Summary: A good range of wireless burglar alarms that are very easy to install. They provide a visual deterrent and piece of mind for home owners. The suggested uses for the range are:
Response SA2
- - Suitable for small properties (flats, terraced houses and small semis) and for locations where no mains electricity is available i.e. boats, caravans etc
Response SA3
- - Suitable for the family home
Response SA5
- - Suitable as a “monitored” system which utilises your land line telephone.
Pros: All models conform to European Norms (the old British Standards BS 6797)
Cons: Uses the 433 MHz operating frequency rather than the imnproved 868 MHz frequency used by the Friedland SK range
Features we like:
- All models have a panic button. Alarm can be activated if an intruder is detected whilst you are in the property. Gives piece of mind even when the alarm is off.
- All models will allow additional devices to be attached. Ideal when wanting to add more PIRs for a garage, a shed or an annex.
- All models have the battery powered and solar charged siren and strobe. Voted “…..the most innovation consumer product ….” at the Daily Mail Ideal Show
- The SA2 is completely wire free and doesn’t require any mains power whatsoever. Ideal for terraced houses and small properties but also perfect for caravans and boats where mains power can be an issue. All other models only require mains electricity only to power the control unit direct from a wall socket – no wiring required.

Summary
The Response SA range of wireless alarms are good but with the lower specification operating frequency of 433 MHz we have only awarded it four stars. The Friedland SK range use the more secure 868 MHz. Nevertheless, the Response SA range is still good value for money is well worth considering. We were impressed with the allocation of the British Standard mark – recognition of a well built product.
The SA5 Friedland Response Alarm System Control Panel has an affordable array of features to cover even the most challenging of security issues. SA2 Wireless alarm system, 2 Dec 2008
The product took 2.5 hours to install and worked first time. I’d have no hesitation in recomending this alarm system to freinds, etc. Easy to install, very neat as there are no wires and it looks the business!!
PS. I got an extra remore control unit for my wife so we don’t have to use the keyboard however our kids or guests can still gain entry using the keyboard.
PS. The kit came with a DVD that was useful to watch before installing just to make sure you have understood everything…
