Summary An excellent range of high quality wireless burglar alarms that have obtained 5 out of 5 stars. It should be noted that the SK/SL range of wireless alarms are built to British/European Standards and they operate on the approved 868 MHz frequency. We believe that both these criteria are essential for an inexpensive wire-free alarm system and it is clear that a lot of their competitors come nowhere near to achieving this standard.
Being wireless, the whole range is very easy to install and it suggested that a person who has average DIY skills would have no problem installing one of these wireless alarm system in a few hours. The systems are “self learning” and require no technical knowledge of the user. Furthermore the SK and SL systems are fully upgradable and expandable.
Pros: All models use the highest standard approved 868 MHz operating frequency for added security. Conforms to British and European Standards
Cons: None that we can see – that’s why it has five stars!!

The suggested uses for the range are:
SK/SL2 – Suitable for small properties (flats, terraced houses and small semis) and for locations where no mains electricity is unavailable i.e. boats, caravans etc
SK/SL3 – Suitable for the family home. Requires mains electricity only to plug in the control panel.
SK/SL5 – Suitable as a “monitored” system which utilises your land line telephone. Requires main electricity only to plug in the control panel. (If you are looking for the monitored systems that utilise your GSM facility take a look at the available options here.)
SL6 – As with the SK/SL5 this alarm is suitable as a monitored alarm utilising your land line. It does have more PIRs than the SK/SL5. Requires mains electricity only to plug in the control panel.
Features we like:
All models have a panic button. Alarm can be activated if an intruder is detected whilst you are in the property. Gives piece of mind even when the alarm is off.
All models will allow additional devices to be attached. Ideal when wanting to add more PIRs for a garage, a shed or an annex.
All models have the battery powered and solar charged siren and strobe.
The SK/SL2 is completely wire free and doesn’t require any mains power whatsoever. Ideal for terraced houses and small properties but also perfect for caravans and boats where mains power can be an issue. All other models only require mains electricity only to power the control unit direct from a wall socket – no other mains wiring required
It is possible to “Part Arm” the SK/SL3, SK/SL5 and the SL6 i.e. you can alarm the downstairs of your property but keep the upstairs free when you go to bed at night.
We particularly like the dummy alarm box contained in the SL5. This is can be a real asset if the rear of your property can be viewed from a public space i.e. the street, playing fields etc. Remember, the alarm box is the first deterrent to having your property burgled. Dummy boxes can be seen here

Summary
The Friedland SK/SL range of wireless alarms are some of the best on the market. The operating frequency of 868 MHz means they are less likely to have false activations when compared to inferior products using more congested operating frequencies. Furthermore the British Standard Mark is always recognised as a sign of a well built product.
