Alert Pal GSM Security Alarm System

Wireless Alarm from Alert Pal
Rating Four Star award for Wireless Alarms

Summary   One of the new kids on the block the Alert Pal uses a Pay As You Go sim card (Vodafone / O2 /  Orange) and when activated by intruders  will instantly send a text message to your mobile phone followed by 5 images – as one message.   Voted ‘Best New Product’ at the Master Locksmiths Expo in September 2011 the Alert Pal is easy to set up (less than 5 minutes, plug and play) and is completely mobile making it ideal for use in caravans, boats as well as the home.  Their are no monthly charges and unlike some similar systems you do not need a computer or broadband account.

Burglars tend to attack a property because they have noticed a flaw in the security – an open window, easy access to the rear etc.  Generally speaking the attack will then only last a few minutes and the offenders are usually clear of the property by the time the police or anybody else arrive.  Invariably, there are no witnesses to the burglary and scenes or crime officers are then left with the daunting task of gathering evidence of the offenders from fingerprints or DNA – neither of which are likely to be present if the offender took minimal precautions and was able to walk through an open door.

The camera is an integral part of the Alert Pal sytem and is suggested that any photographic evidence that it can supply which will help the police in detecting the crime must be a good thing.

Pros:

Built in infrared sensor for clear images even at night
Works with any mobile phone, as long as you can receive a text
Arm/Disarm  with the remotes, or just send a text
Has a built in battery so it will last for 10-12 hours even with no mains power
Sends you a text if power is lost (i.e. if you have power cut)
Works anywhere in Europe with a UK SIM
Call at any time to hear live audio where it’s located
Can send images to an email address if required
Considerably less expensive than conventional GSM audible alarms
Get an instant text the moment an intruder triggers the camera and 5 images (as one message)
No installation (the camera comes with a stand which can be used or it has mounting fixings if required also)
Instant text if a fire is detected
Ideal for an elderly relative (using the panic buttons and calling the camera)

Cons:

No audible alarm and hence no alarm box deterrent for the exterior of the property.   In the mean time the deterrent value could be increased by installing a dummy alarm box such as the Friedland Response Wireless Dummy Siren SLDS.
